Information
Before your session I would like to discuss the details of the photo shoot. I want to get a feel for your expectations and get any ideas you may have. We’ll also go over the procedures for the photo shoot and answer any questions you may have about the session or ordering procedures.
I currently photograph on location which includes client’s homes, parks, & any outdoor locations that are available in the Rankin County area including but not limited to Brandon, Puckett, McLaurin, Reservoir, Pearl, and other surrounding areas. Some of the best backdrops are God’s creations and they are free to use anytime! They are best used during early morning hours or late afternoon.
Clothing:
When doing portraits, solid colors are a great choice. You can wear blue jeans or khaki’s and a polo or button up shirt for a timeless look. For families & siblings, if you don’t want to all wear the same color, try to wear clothes in the same color family, all primary colors or pastels.
For kids portraits have them wear bright, bold colors for a whimsical look or have your daughter wear a sundress with bare feet, weather permitting of course! Or if you have a son, he could wear a pair of overalls with no shirt underneath and bare feet. Be creative in what you want them to wear. Think about your personality and your child’s personality and dress them accordingly. Bring props if you want, such as a sunflower for a little girl or a fireman’s hat if your little boy loves firetrucks.
For newborn portraits I like to take some photographs of your baby in his/her birthday suit (rest assured there is nothing inappropriate or distasteful and if you would rather not, we don’t have to!). If the parents want to be in the pictures I recommend them wearing the same color long sleeve shirts (black or white is preferred). For baby’s clothes anything goes, from a simple onesie to a smocked dress to a Christening gown. You might want to bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal to photograph with your newborn. If you have their name in wooden letters or blocks you might want to bring those along for props, too.
Senior portraits are a time to express yourself! Think about what and who you are when picking your outfits. Pick at least 3 outfits for this session, making one of them a dressy outfit (as dressy as you want to get, at least!). Be creative. Bring a hat, bring some jewelry, bring a purse, and girls, definitely bring your shoes!! Guys, you may want to bring your jacket, bring a hat, bring your sports car if you have one! If you play football, bring your letter jacket or jersey. Girls, if you cheer, bring your pom poms. We’ll have about an hour to get creative!
Have fun but most importantly we want everyone to be comfortable!
